Did I come to Takotna this AM at -30 to see the dog teams or did I come here for the food.  Either way, its all good.  Its a beauty sunny day here in Takotna.  The teams are all resting out on the sunny hillside behind the checkpoint.    The mushers are in and out eating and talking then taking more time to sleep.

The action started with the arrival of Jeff King Tues evening.  It was a calm cool arrival/departure.  He went to the front and switched his swing dogs with his leaders and changed a couple booties, before he was even headed back toward the sled the dogs began to bounce and scream to go.  I think his dogs knew exactly where they were and wanted to go to Takotna.  Jeff has never really rested in MG before, the dogs just seemed to want to get out of here.

THe weather is the story of the day. Karen and I flew out of Anchorage this AM, the flight was delayed an hour. THe wind was blowing and had snowed 8 inches over night. THe weather here in MG is overcast and a little snowy, and cold. We have been keeping a close eye on Ross’s extended stay in Rainy. I have talked here in MG to a couple pilots and i guess all of the media is stuck in Rainy, it is too windy to fly out of there, it is blowing hard there and i am sure Ross and others were waiting for things to calm down a little before going over the pass.
