Aaron Peck – In 1992, I was a 13-year-old mushing prodigy.

Welcome to Elevation Dogs! My name is Aaron Peck and I reside in the beautiful Peace country of northern Alberta, Canada. Let me tell you a little about myself.

Believe it or not, I grew up in southern Ontario not too far from our country’s largest city, not the best place in the world to pursue the sport of long distance mushing. But it was a great area to learn the sport of mushing and to participate in some fun races in the eastern part of the country.

I began running the dogs when I was 13 years old; an old team of stubborn huskies taught me a few things and started me on my path. I was awe inspired by this amazing mode of transportation. I love to travel, I love dogs, and I love winter, so I was certain that I had found my passion in life. In 1992 I was a 13-year-old mushing prodigy!

Alaska & The Iditarod

By the time I was 18 years old I was in Alaska, the epicenter of mushing to say the least. I was hungry for Iditarod, known as “The Last Great Race”. This 1100-mile marathon takes the best long distance mushers in the world across the northern state in a constant state of intense competition. The first one to Nome wins, and becomes an instant hero.

To this day I have ran in three Iditarod’s. I have also raced through the state of Wyoming in the Wyoming Stage Stop three times. The world’s toughest stage race climbs to elevations of 11000ft. Just imagine the Tour De France with dog teams instead of speed bikes.

My life over the last 20 years has been a whirlwind ride of the most incredible adventures with my dogs. The years are starting to add up now, and early mushing memories are starting to seem long ago. But every friendship, every dog, every race, and every mile have been building blocks for the foundation that I now stand on. I finally realize what an amazing gift I have been given by God, and I finally understand why I have been given this gift. I hope this site will reveal to you the answer to this, and I hope my example can be a clue to you if you have ever questioned why you do what you do. Enjoy the ride as my dogs and I climb that mountain!
